It really is, and I'll explain.

My current phone is a BlackBerry Z10.
My previous phone was an Atrix (Motorola).
My phone before that? A Nokia.

Every time I buy a phone, the company goes under.

Maybe I'll finally try an iPhone.

The company didn't go under. You are misinterpreting the news. Going private or being sold does not mean it's going under. Did instagram "go under" when it was sold to Facebook for $1billion?

Nokia and Motorola are still around.

Now, if you had used a webOS/Palm, that would be a different story

Given your track record, BlackBerry will be around for quite awhile following whatever course of action they take! Thank you for this reassure. :-P

Buy a Galaxy phone, an iPhone and a Lumia while you're at it.

As a former Nokia N9 user I am paranoid with you. Fortunately I skipped Ubuntu Edge at last minute :-)
