Investors bet big on BlackBerry 10 smartphones

RIM shares Nasdaq listed jumped 11.8 percent to $13.33. It's good that investors are finally seeing a real possibility of RIM's coming back in a big way with BB10 after declaring the company almost dead a few months ago.

RIM's Nasdaq-listed shares were up 11.8 per cent at $13.33. Shares jumped 11.0 per cent to C$13.09 on the Toronto Stock Exchange, more than twice the low of C$6.10 that they touched in September
These reasons are the ones why I do see both RIM and BB10 having a very good chance of success.

    1. More and more investors are optimistic about the prospects of success for the new BB10 platform. This is a big change from a few months ago when many were declaring it as DOA.

Throughout the autumn of 2012, RIM's stock rose as investors grew more optimistic about the prospects for BlackBerry 10. Colello said the market went from pricing in no chance of success, to betting on at least some chance of success for the new products.
    2. The publicity surrounding the BB10 is gaining a lot of traction, especially with the very important carrier companies and businesses. The program in which allowed 120 businesses and various carriers to test the phone ahead of the launch allowed them to gauge for themselves how well these devices would be received. In the very important United States market, the major carriers have committed to carrying and supporting the new BB10 phones.

In Canada, Rogers, Bell and Telus have committed and in other countries, many of the major carriers have committed to carrying and supporting those phones as well. I do believe that it is a result of the very hard work that Thorsten Heins and the RIM team have been done throughout 2012, as well as the publicity that this and other websites and tech blogs have given it, building right up to the January 30th launch date. They have all done a great job.

"Sprint plans to bring BlackBerry 10 to our customers later this year. We will share more details soon," said Mark Elliot, a spokesman for the U.S. carrier, said in an email.

Earlier this week, executives at Verizon Communications , AT&T Inc and T-Mobile USA all confirmed they would carry the smartphones, and said they are looking forward to the new devices.
    3. RIM has also done a great job partnering with and attracting application developers with various port-a-thons and financial incentives for creating applications for the BB10 platforms. And as a result, the BB10 will be released with close of 100,000 apps and according to this article, 90% of the top 600 Android and IOS apps.
