I wanted to get an idea on what people think is the best way to do instant messaging on their Blackberry.

Some people use the individual apps developed by RIM while others use software like Beejive or IM+ where instant messaging is unified all in one piece of software.

I wanted to get your prefence on which one and why.

Something that works with everything. I don't think everyone should need to own the same brand to use proprietary messaging systems.

Whatsapp. B'coz most of the people in my circle are on whatsapp. Plus it is the best out of all cross-platform messengers.

I prefer using an All-in-One messenger. As well, I prefer my friends/contacts use an messenger service that isn't just cross smartphone, but cross platform including desktop computers. It's much preferable (to me) when while working on a computer, I don't have to pick up my mobile device to receive and respond to an instant message.

Apps like Whatsapp, Pingchat, etc.. are just reinventing the wheel.
