When I change the input method on my bb, it doesn't actually change anything. I'm trying to go from English to French, but when I have French and English selected, they function exactly the same. I'm on a Curve 8330. Thanks!
English and French use most of the same alphabet characters. French does use accented characters, they are secondary on each key.
If you need the secondary character, press the key then move the trackball. It will display the additional characters available in French.
The CDMA phones have multiple languages, but are limited to languages used in the Americas. English, French, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese, all based on the Roman Alphabet. GSM phones are better supported with European and Asian languages which often do use alternate alphabets.
You should see the character choices with Russian using the Cyrillic alphabet.
