I'm trying to get all the info I can on the BB for when I go get my curve and was curious as to which instant messaging program everyone thought was best.
the AIM and Yahoo that comes with my curve uses SMS rather than data. Plus with JiveTalk, you can log on all different kinds of messengers (AIM, Yahoo, MSN, Google, etc)... the interface is just nice and really easy to use. You can change the way your IM window look... it could be a bubble chat, ping pong, and so on..... give it a try...free trail for 30 days.
its 19.99 for the device license, meaning it can only be used for that device... and 29.99 for a user license, meaning you can transfer it over if you use a new/different bb.... there should be a $5 coupon somewhere ..but the ones I found are all expired... my trail ended so im trying to get the $5 coupon.
Webmessenger is a free alternative but the interface doesn't compare at all- and is no where near as easy to use.
Its a payment of $20 for a single license- so if you lose your phone or switch- you have to pay again. But its $30 for the one that you can get transferred for free to other phones- you can't use them at the same time on different phone - but you don't have to pay again if you get a new phone!

I tried webmessenger because it was free, but I didn't like it was very difficult to set up. Now I'm using Jivetalk and I love it. I have my 4 IM accounts in just one place!

If you are referring to a multi-IM app, JiveTalk in my opinion is in a league of it's own. I don't use it as I don't IM enough to pay for it. I probably will send 1-2 IMs in a month.
