ignorant people posting app reviews on Blackberry App World
Hey everyone, I decided to post here to see if anyone else notices what I have seen A LOT of over the passed few days.
Ignorant people posting unhelpful, and in some cases stupid app reviews. Its been getting on my nerves to the point where I just want to yell at the person! They'll download a theme that specifically says its not compatible with their hardware/OS and then they go and give it a one star review with the comment "doesn't work".
On many occasions I've seen people post reviews that say the app was "great, one of my favourites" and they give it one star!
Anyways.. Just needed somewhere/someone to vent my anger about this too. If anyone else notices this feel free to post a reply. You can even share experiences as some of the ignorant people can be really funnyThanked by:barbarianthemadserb (05-14-2012)

Vent away i feel your pain. Its not just the past few days its all the time. Ive seen people post on a game that it sucks and give it one star...just because he couldn't beat it...its Mahjong its a difficult game LOL, ive been playing it for years and only have beat'n it a handful of times.
im speaking generally and IMO but people dont know what a "review" is when they start typing in that little box. its a place for constructive criticism not a place to whine and complain and b!tch.~~ I am no longer active on this site ~~ - 05-13-2012, 09:07 PM

The worste part of it all I think is that decent or sometimes GOOD apps get overall reviews in the range of 1-2 stars because of the fact that people don't realize some apps need a restart to work. I'm not a tech wiz myself, but come on!

People are morons, they expect everything to be perfect the moment it comes out. Also the general lack of any kind of grammatical skills is very annoying. If you can't beat simple mahjong then try something else. I look at graphics, performance, interactiveness, sound and general ease of use. I would rather bug report and Help you guys out with any errors that might arise.

Yeah, the quality of reviews could definitely go up.

I see it all the time. My app that scans and creates QR barcodes doesn't scan UPC codes (people looking to price check). Even though the description says it only scans QR codes, people still post reviews saying it won't scan their toothpaste tube, and stuff like that. I'm convinced most people never read the actual app description.

Yeah, it's not just BB app world, it's reviews in general. Any time I decide on a big ticket item to buy, I go through the reviews, the morons are usually easy to spot and ignore (ie, this QR barcode reader won't scan my toothpaste tube!)

My theory goes like this. In the early 70's they unkowingly guaranteed that the morons would survive to procreate. They called it "Mr. Yuck", he was an ugly green sticker that went on all the toxic chemicals under the sink. Unfortunately for everyone on the web and on the streets, the moron who would have drank the bleach is still with us and now has kids! Curse you Mr. Yuck you have filled our world with idiots!

Unfortunately this is everywhere, not just on BlackBerry app world, people in general don't read instructions properly....I guess Mr. Yuck is a good name for these type of people
. I read a review before with 1 star rating because the PostOffice didn't deliver the product on time...WOW, nothing to do with the product at all.....it's sad, but I've learned to take reviews with a grain of salt....
. Some are accurate most are NOT.

Interesting theory, but actually the problem goes back to the addage that says if you make something idi0t-proof, they'll just make better idiots. I could go into a lengthy political diatribe here, or even blame Apple at the risk of starting a major flame war. But I won't, and I'll just leave it with the fact tht too many vendors tried to make too many things idi0t-proof, and this is the result. And it's only going to get worse.
Next topic: the rise of legislators who are compelled to write new laws protecting the idiots, allowing them to, much like albee's bleach-drinker, survive despite themselves. It's a vicious cycle to which I sadly see no end.
@OP: excellent thread! Lets me be abusive without abusing anyone in particular.

Most of them are pretty much weird people. I hate it. Bb app world contains reviews of "I'm going to iphone"
I really don't care b1tch.
And the funny part, people who are new don't download it because of bad "reviews" and then they come here asking us what the problem is with bb AP world. Trust me, I have been confronted with such incidents before!
Vent away.... Ill keep looking at this thread for a chuckle.

People read that's not the problem. The problem is they do not comprehend what they are reading or they translate it to read what they want it to. Then they get bent at the author/designer because it's easier than admitting they're idiots. And with public education as it is, there is no hope of improvement anytime soon.

I don't see that many negative reviews (that are actually not reviews, but just b*tching) but I don't read any reviews for an app or game when I am looking to see if I plan on buying it, word of mouth works better.

Yeah, I have the same issue. I was so happy my website launcher was finally approved in appworld! Then one reviewer gave me 2 stars an said "tell me something I don't know" and "needs to be updated more" like seriously? WTF!?? I says BlackBerry 101! I have day job, do it out of love, and its 100% ad free! :s
