Yeah, that's what I figured. There's got to be an app somewhere to run legit speed tests though. Or I can just time web page load times and blow away the cache between runs to take that out of the equation.
ohh geeze, because I have FiOS and its fast, so do my friends...its fast...I connect to mine...its slow....I connect to theirs...its fast...so I'd say something in my house is screwing with my connection, that's probably why I just said screw the WiFi at my house haha, I'm fairly patient and all is good...but nothing pisses me off more than EDGE
come to NYC. 3g is almost as reliable as a pinto. almost.
Your showing your age with the Pinto reference. :)
I mostly use 3G although for sites like youtube I use wifi I see no use for wifi with good 3G connection although wifi is good when downloading large files and etc.... which I dont do.
i never realliy use wifi and when i do id ont see a difference. really good if u ever go overseas to avoid paying international data plans !
There is an app called speedtest or something like that. It does what you're looking to do I believe. I don't remember the link for it but if I find it I'll post it.
I set my bold to 2G only, and use WiFi when available. There's a noticable inprovement in battery life.

i tend to keep Wi-Fi off at all time. and only turn on 3G when I need it.
So basically wifi is good only for browsing ?

wifi is important to me since it saves me on my bill. Here in the philippines, we don't have unlimited blackberry internet service. As a matter of fact, I pay for every single kilobyte I use thus the need for wifi.
Wifi is faster than 3g so it would be nice to have it in case.

I've yet to use the wifi on my Bold. So far, only been using 3G and Edge, depending on my location.
Depends. On Nokias you can download numerous VOIP programs. I'm not sure if you can do the same with blackberries or not. Perhaps someone here will know.
