Why has BlackBerry reduced its warranty from 18 months to 12 months? (In India)
First with the Z3 I thought since it's a Foxconn product so probably it's 12 months thinking that the phones produced by BlackBerry will still carry the 18 months warranty. But the passport also comes with only 12 months of warranty. Everyone appreciates the build quality so much then why the reduction in warranty?

Not sure how you were getting 18 months of warranty when over here it's only every been 12 months.

I believed some of it has top do with the country in which the device is sold. I know in Germany, the warranty laws far eclipse ours here in the US of A.....

Warranty laws vary from country to country.....regardless of the country of origin......

Well we have been getting 18 months right from the curve 8520 days. Z3 broke the chain.

From what I hear, India could just say 5 year warranty as all I see in the forums is complaints about warranty issues in India and no one receives any satisfaction over there.....ever!

Likely because phone cycles will probably be more frequent and don't want to have to keep production real estate for old phones.

I can't say for others, but the city I live in, while there is only one service center it has always provided decent service. And I have been seeing this for the last 2 years. Damn they even provided me with a spare Z10 when my Q5 was taken for servicing! (which isn't provided by BlackBerry but stocked by the service center)
