Looking at the post profiling BlackBerry users against android and iPhone strikes me the kind of people who buy BlackBerry are the same profile as those who used to buy Saab. And if not Saab I could probably say Studebacher and may be the history of Studebacher matches uncanily with that of Blackberry and BlackBerry need to change before following Studebacher all the way into the history books?
Where apple and android might be VW and Ford respectively.
Trouble is Saab and Studebacher both had a loyal customer base both made arguably better cars and both failed!
I should say for anyone who knows nothing about cars I'm mot comparing these failure stories to rubbish BlackBerry, although I never got around to buying a Saab I still wish I'd had one and I'd gladly give garage space to a Studebacher if I could find one in the UK.
As BlackBerry users would you give garage space to a Saab or a Studebacher or is it just a case of give me a Camero every time?
Despite the BlackBerry / porsche link and the porsche / VW link I still see VW like Apple. I don't think an IPhone user would get this post at all - think car think they know all about cars - think VW Audi or BMW anything else just doesn't cut it for them.

The Ford Edsel, because like the Edsel, the aim was right, it's just that the target moved.

I'm really not a car enthusiast as much as I try. I'm hoping this whole QNX/BlackBerry thing can change that. Seeing what cars QNX runs in along with my personal preference.

I'd have to say Blackberry is a SAAB 9-3.

Speaking of cars....im curious whether the bb/qnx marriage may introduce options like remote start, etc...since many vehicles are running on the qnx platform.

Tomcat23 - you sound like a typical iPhone user who thinks they know something about phone / cars but actually does not. Lada may have been obsolete but Lada was a commercial success which kept the corupt soviet economy going a good few years. Ladas were based on a successful Fiat design - think Fiat 124. Lada is a lot more like android. Take a good product - linux. Give it a new lick of paint but in all other respects completely ruin it. Sell it cheap. Make money.

Heinz - just for you let's say your playbook is a
Studebaker Avanti. Nice car too expensive too late to make a difference - completely overlooked. Buy buyers who bought mustang or Corvettes. (spell check tried to corrugated my corvette or will that be courgette - heard they were that kind of substitute?)
Or maybe if u are German with name like Heinz we could mention Borgwart Isobella?

I was going to say Saab too, but for a less generous reason. Saab buyers wanted the "prestige" of a European car and thought they were getting something special, but in reality they were just paying too much.

Ok I take back my SAAB reply. I just like the look of them and the users always seem decent. Move along now.

In case of Saab they just weren't big enough to play with the big boys. A GM takeover proved a disastrous culture clash. Saabs always cost too much to make and still looked smart after 5 to 10 years so didn't need replaced as often.

Tariq surely hyundai and suzuki if they make phones would make low end android units. No innovation just copy the market trend and sell on price?

    My first Ford (an Escort).

I remember having such fun in that car but, after driving a number of other cars I was "lucky" enough to drive the same model again a few years back.

I realised that despite my nostalgic fondness for it, the Escort had always been outclassed - then and now!

Whaddayaknow, I just had a car-related discussion a couple of days ago on CB.

I see Blackberry as a Volvo. It is safe, reliable, luxurious but understated. It is deemed less flashy than Audi or BMW, but in everyday use it can hardly be beat in terms of comfort, safety and ease of use.
