Last night I bought a theme from crackberry.com. it was my first purchase in over a month on my credit card. then today I got a phone call from my credit card company and someone had purchased over $1000 of purchases on my card just today. I'm not accusing crackberry of any wrong doing at all but I just wanted to let people know in case others experienced anything similar.

Have you downloaded music or movies or anything lately? Scammers can get into your computer that way. Do you have unsecured wifi in your house or wherever you were?

Just suggestions of how these things can happen.

Additional to the other comments, I believe CB has contracted the onlinestore to a larger specialist outfit, at least for the payment and fulfillment side. This means the CB owners don't have direct control there but it also means the folk running it are more likely to be professionals, experienced at selecting and security-screening the staff.

It is more likely your card was exposed much closer to home and at least a few days earlier. The card scams are big business high volume crime so it takes time to snag the number, put it through the eCrime auction site and sell it to a user who will try to harvest the cash. Next day is simply too fast.

There's also the point that single card details are very rarely stolen from webstores by a human thief. Webstore thefts are big-block-of-details by hacking. Human thefts are done one at a time by dual swiping, skimming, all the other traditional ways even down to dumpster diving. My gut feeling is that webstore is usually safer than handing a card to the cashier, because webstores don't fall into debt or get greedy.

This is why I bought Identity Theft insurance last night. It is only $12.50 per month and that is for everyone in my family.

Yeah I have fraud protection and my credit card company is taking care of it. I thought it was a little quick too, that it had to do with my purchase last night. I rarely use my credit card online though. and as for wifi, i live in the middle of a 7 acre field haha Who knows though really. I know there's tons of ways for people to get access to this stuff. It's just a pain in the ***.

FTR folks scammer are everywhere. It was only about 6 months ago Boscov's I THINK was the target of some stolen numbers. Contact your credit cards fraud department, you will not have to pay the charges and they will handle it from there.

After purchasing a theme from Elecite through Crackberry, I also noticed a fraudulent charge on my card about 4 days later. At first they went in and only took 5 cents. I guess to see if a purchase would go through. Then they went for a bigger amount. It wasn't billed from Mobihand they actually purchased goods from an online store. Please guys be really careful right now. If you see any fishy charges call immediately and report a fraudulent claim, so you can get your money back asap. Also notify you're local police department.
