    Hi!
I don't think that the Q5 is really considered an upgrade to the Z10, but that's just my opinion.
Are you finding you need a physical keyboard? The Z10 keyboard is just amazing as it is!

Just like JayDee sais, its not actually an upgrade, is just.. a change of Series. Q5 is a Physical Keyboard series. Z10 its a Full touch screen series.

Why it's not an upgrade ? because of the lower specs of the q5?

Conventional thought would say it's a downgrade because of the weaker specs yes.

I suspect that most people would consider a move from a Z10 to a Q10 to be (arguably) a lateral move while moving to a Q5 a downgrade..

I agree. Also, from my VERY limited experience with the Q5, & from what I have heard from others who have also used both. The Q10 has a better keyboard then the Q5. If what you value most is a Physical Keyboard, why not get the best physical keyboard?

....The Q10 is twice as expensive as the Q5, is that why?

The Q5 is most def not an upgrade on the Z10. If you must use a keyboard BlackBerry, the Q10 is what you should be looking at because it's on par with the z10 on hardware

The Q5 sure has somewhat lower clocked CPU which would translate to 20% less raw power. Also you have less internal memory for apps, which can be critical if you are a gaming fan. However if you would happen being one, you'd most likely rather be looking at the Z30 rather than one of the QWERTY models.

I wouldn't say the Q10s keyboard is actually better than the one the Q5 packs. They are different for sure, however I sometimes find the Q5 keyboard more comfortable: Everytime I try it in the store, I produce less misstypes compared to my Q10 - even though that is my device of choice since more than six months. The Q10 keyboard however feels indeed more premium, more silent and less clicky.

There is a thread over on our Q5 forums where another CB member writes about his Q5 experience. He also "upgraded" his Z10 to a Q5 and likes the QWERTY phone better.

In the end the choice between Q10 or Q5 depends on your needs and budget.
    Q5:
Traditional LCD screen, which is brighter and has better whites
    Slightly higher battery capacity
    Cheaper
    Different keyboard with spaced keys
    Less CPU power
    Less internal memory
    No changeable battery

    Q10:
New Super AMOLED screen with better blacks, yet dimmer display
    Exchangeable battery
    More expensive
    More CPU power
    More internal memory
Different keyboard, resambles the classic "Bold" keyboards
    Rather expensive
Better housing due to more premium materials

If you don't really use too many apps anyways, the lower internal memory shouldn't bother you. If you don't want the need being able to quickly change your batteries, there is another con you don't need to worry about. I heard reports the lower clocked CPU can be noticed sometimes, but in the end it's not much of a problem: The Q5 still performs very well. It also comes with a more traditional LCD screen, which is comparable to your Z10s screen. The Q10 features an AMOLED display, which is dimmer, though it produces better blacks and colours in general. However AMOLED isn't a technology liked by everybody, so this might be an important point with your device choice.

Regardless of the outcome, both a good devices with their own strengths and weaknesses. You'll just need to be sure you actually want a device featuring a traditional physical keyboard, because the smaller sized 3.1" displays might be a bit disappointing at first after you switch from a larger sized >4" screen.

Ok here's how it is. The Q10 has a bold like keypad while the Q5 has a curve like keypad. Between the bold and curve which BlackBerry do you think was best to use is how you should view and compare both Q5/10 keypads.

Well in this case I don't really see any benefit in getting a Q10 prior to a Q5. Unless you really care about the superior build quality.

how long have you been using the Z10 and are you making the same errors over and over? If so, my understanding is the software will adapt (with some instruction from you) to put the sensors on the screen where your fingers go for specific characters but if you aren't making the same mistakes then that will not help you.

The Z30 might help because the larger screen realestate will give more room for an expanded keyboard but it might not be big enough for you and likely more than you would want to pay for a texting phone..
