I until a month ago had a 9900. I still have a 8330 and 8130 as backup phones. I sell BB product everyday. If the Bb10 device is as nice as they are saying, I will likely have one. I correct when I see misinformation about other platforms (I've used them all but symbian, yes even win phone 7 and webos), no one is hurt by having knowledge of all platforms. It's actually a plus. Thorsten Heins can at least see the other platforms because he uses them. People don't need to stick their heads in the sand and ignore other platforms, their strengths, and any weakness BB has at the moment while chanting "everything is wonderful we don't need to do anything" - Mike and Jim did that and look where it got the company.

I come here because it's the premiere site to discuss things Blackberry. I find out news here, discuss phones themselves, upgrade my phones, interact with people who have become friends.

I also come here because it's a good place to learn about other platforms....I also use Android devices and have owned two different iPhones. And no one was more surprised than me when I found I LOVE my Skyrocket. And people like Matt, Rick other Androidites have helped me, for which I am grateful. The iPhones I've owned....meh....

I am a BB fan and I'm a girl but I'm not a fangirl. If I see where RIM has failed I say so. If I see where my BB does not perform as well as it should I say so. I prefer my BB over anything else, but I'm not blind to the missteps that the company has made, nor am I blind to their difficult situation.

I will come to CB as long as CB exists. I have seen other sites and I've run away from them. My BB rocks. CB.com rocks.

That's the reason I am here. It's the most respected, most respectable, most mature, most enjoyable BB site I've ever visited, and the only one where I want to stay.

Isn't it amusing how people who claim to not enjoy CB at all simply can't stay away???? It's because it's CRACKBERRY, the BEST BB site....

Plain and simple, most people that come here bashing RIM and you can tell by the low post count and recent account date are trolls. They pop up all over the place just to start problems and the indication is they start a bash thread with no facts and never return to said thread. Just my 2 cents. And yes I still have a BB device or 2 though I'm posting from a EVO.

Now that my wife has her BlackBerry for personal use and an iPhone for work, (as odd as that seems to me), I've really enjoyed seeing 1st hand the differences in the 2 platforms. I can concretely say that an iPhone would never work for me, but I see why some like it.

The interest in BB10 with people currently on other platforms shows me there is light at the end of the tunnel for RIM. Choice is good. If there were none, innovation would stagger and we would all still be using a Startac flip phone

Totally agree with you. RIM isn't known for making very many deadlines, ok it is what it is. But regarding the delay in BB10 it was at least said that we want to get it done right. I'm content on waiting. My 9930 works just fine for me.

This is how I look at it: If i want something now that's good enough, I get fast food. If I want quality, find a real restaurant.

RIM is taking their time to cook up the real deal

They definitely learned their lession from the Storm series.

And thanks for all the replies, they've all been pretty good.

And as for trolls that keep on popping up with different names, are they getting around banning by ip address?

Yet, they are allowed to exist.
Let me respond to that question.

For the most part the problem threads exist because nobody reports the bait or the growing flame. The moderator team doesn't look closely at every thread or post - we can't, there are too many. Very often we can scan past a problem thread in the index, see a multi-page thread which has not attracted reports and ignore because no reports means no trouble. By the time the first reports land it is too late and we have several pages of disruption to resolve. Standing back and looking at it... we may see 30-40 problem posts from multiple participants who have all joined the fight and stepped over the line in multiple posts. If we deal fairly with the most visible combatants they probably all deserve a 7-day ban - but they are all "good" members every other day of the week, and the original initiator with only one minor provoking post in the thread would deserve (at most) a warning. Even that warning will often generate multiple PMs as the troll tries to have it reversed - or at least waste enough mod time to make it hard work to deal with them again in the future.

Very often the initiators, provokers, and other trolls will also make multiple reports against opposing members. <Hopefully> one of the moderators will fail to notice the pattern of "harassment by reporting" and will take action against a member who has lost patience and is seen as a troll because they are the target of several recent reports. It takes a lot of awareness to handle that correctly from the moderator side.

BUT if you are here because you used to have a BlackBerry and think they are crap, or never owned a BlackBerry but think anyone who does is silly, or own a BlackBerry because you have to, but feel no one else should, then why are you here? that is how I took it atleast.

The best solution is for us who are members who see that stuff just report, and do not respond to the bait.

If somebody says "You're an " or responds in any manner that's when things quickly get out of control. By reporting the problematic post and not responding to the poster, the moderators are able to contain and rein in the thread.

Running forums and modding sucks on a good day. People tend to be there own worst enemy...

What can I say, I've been a member of WebOSnation from back in the days when it was a treo site - now you are lucky if there are maybe 40 posts in a day in the main forums and they are mainly "will X make a webos device" and talking in circles - it's down to hardcore believers at this stage and the quality of debate isn't a patch on this place because there is no longer a critical mass of difference viewpoints.

I think the terminology I use seems a bit harsher to you because I'm English and it's in our nature to talk about things in a way that our cousins over the sea found don't see the humour in. Sorry if I've offended you, I'll try harder in future to remember how much more seriously you guys take the use of religious terminology.

If you assume I'm American you are mistaken. I've taken your meaning well in hand. I am quite familiar with Brits - it is too facile an excuse to hide rudeness behind alleged difference in speech patterns. No need to explain my meaning.

I don't see ads thanks to ABP. Maybe CB still gains revenue via page hits and that's fine by me. I just hate ads clogging up my screen.

Hallelujah! No need for negative comments. We Crackberry addicts have no problem with sharing our forums with other platform users. Some just don't respect that this is THE CRACKBERRY forum. If you BlackBerry users on the forum see anyone dissing our pride and joy, give em the scoop and make sure they regret it. We don't have time for discussing the worst about RIM. You are not reporters or journalists. That's their job. Only they get to describe the (imaginary) downfall of RIM.

    Peace out Crackberry...
