This may already be out there but I suck at searching on forums.

I've figured out that I need to have the keyboard locked whenever I put my bb in my pocket or even bag, otherwise I've been known to make some calls without knowing it

But.... whenever I have the keyboard locked and the bb put away the buttons keep getting pushed and I am constantly hearing little beeps. Can you say annoying? Is there any way to turn off the beeps?

Options / Keyboard/Screen. Set Key Tone to Off.

Go to Settings>Options>Screen/Keyboard and set the Key Tone to "OFF".
