I use gmail and like it a lot. But, I worry about Google in general. They scan all your email, ostensibly to be able to target marketing ads at you better. That's how they can offer you email for free. But they do maintain a history to some degree of your email content. They already keep a history of your search strings from Google itself, and I don't care for them keeping any sort of history of email content, too. It's just too invasive.
Big brother really is watching, and Google is often their eyes.
