    Hi!
I have a Bold 9000 that I have been using for years without problem. Few months ago it went dead (4 red flashes for those interested). I have regular backups but my BB will not start.
From a friend I got another BOld 9000 which apparently is locked to another network, so I it will not work with my SIM.
    HERE IS THE QUESTION:
Should these old BB-s start without a SIM (so far I could not get them work)? Can I restore my data to this other BB? What would you suggest as the best approach to get to my data? At the moment I do not plan to buy a new BB, so this is not an option.
    Thanks!

You should unlock the 9000 that you want to use so that you can: upgrade the Operating System, install your backup file, and be able to use it on your current network. With the 9000 that was given to you being on a different provide you must unlock it to use it. I hope this helps.
