I am looking to get a Blackberry phone and was inquiring on if there is still a monthly fee for Blackberry email. Also what providers can I use the phones on. I am looking at getting an older curve to start out and see if I like it. I also like the z10.

Old BBOS phones like the Curve and Bold will require a BlackBerry BIS data plan and those have the old $5-$15 monthly fee. The BB10 phones like the Z10 do not require a special BlackBerry data plan and therefore do not have a special monthly fee.

Keep in mind that you have to check your carrier's radio frequencies and get the correct version of the Z10. With the old BBOS phones, each Curve had a different model number like the "Curve XXXX" or Bold 9900 vs Bold 9930. The model number denoted the carrier and was part of the model name. All BB10 phones hide the carrier model number to be like the competition (iPhone/Galaxy/etc.). Z10's have model numbers STL-1 through STL-5 or STL-6. Get the right version for your carrier.

    Hope this helps.
