I am not a heavy typing user so I have never really learned to type without looking at the keyboard.
But I have heard lot of BlackBerry Qwerty users type without looking.

I wish I could, but I have to look at the keyboard.

I type both ways (with looking and without) on my Z10.
On a physical qwerty like my old 9900 or if I had a Q10, much less so. I really don't look at the keyboard anymore.

With the Z10, I do often look at the keyboard to see the predictive text options given.
But I still very often don't bother with the word predictions, and just freely type on my Z10 as fast as I can without looking, in a way I never thought I'd be able to with a virtual keyboard. I had never considered a touchscreen keyboard before the Z10.

Have had my Q10 for a little over a month now, and I'm finding that I don't look at the keyboard much anymore, except for numbers and punctuation. But I'm sure that over time I'll get that down too.

Edit: I don't use auto correct, and still manage to be fairly accurate. lol

I've stopped looking at the keyboard and look at the screen more. The auto correct fixes most of my mistakes anyway.

I often see people say this but I am constantly on my 9900 all day everyday since I it got last summer, I for the life of me can't type without looking at the KB.

    Before that I've always had the KB, 8310 8520 9360 9810.

Now typing without looking at the screen, I a champ at that.

I! It comes as second nature for me now. I don't look down, I look at the screen. When my 9810 died last week before I was able to get my hands on this Q10 I had was using a little 9700 keyboard... with nails, I thought I was going to die. It hasn't been a tough transition, in fact, this q10 qwerty tops all the ones I've had. I never got the chance to try to 9900 because I couldn't get ahold of it in white, but I've heard good things.

I could do this on my legacy device (physical keyboard) and I'm now fortunate enough to be able to do it on my Z too.

Can type without looking at a regular keyboard, but cannot state the same for a thumb keyboard.

This is hard with a BlackBerry Z10 but if I had the Q10 I could because the Q10 has a physical keypad but the predictive texting makes up for the absence of the physical keypad on the Z10.

This is the main reason I have stuck with the qwerty BlackBerry. I can knock out emails at meetings with the BlackBerry under the table. Just a quick glance to proofread before I send it out.

For touch keyboards it is somewhat difficult to not look at the keyboard.

Only reason I got the Q10 was so I can text while driving without having to look down at all. (I know I'm not supposed to do it leave me alone)

On my previous phone (9700) I never have to look at the keyboard to type, I guess I'm used to it. For z10 I've both kind of situation, sometimes I look and sometimes I don't, mostly because I trust the autocorrect when I type without looking.

I do that occasionally on my 9900 for shorter message.

Not exactly touch typing but I once typed on a 9800 a whole email report about 4/5 pages A4 equivalent to a client whilst stuck in a plane and takeoff for a 12 hrs flight was delayed. My eyes hurt but at least it was doable. Cannot imagine doing that on a touch screen.
