I wonder what kind of mischief you're up to... lol
There might be an app to do this but I don't know. One way you could do this though is to have someone in your contacts text you and rename that person to the number you want.
hey thanks,
how do i edit the number though
like i can send a text to myself and rename it under a name, but under contact info and number its reading my phone number, i need it to read a different number
You can do that with any contact, probably easier to do with CrunchSMS, or you can edit the original text and change the number, maybe forward it, with the # you wanted as a header.
Or, just get that person (and number) to text you and then I guess you can change the message.
(Most of the number spoofers I know, only work for actual phone calls, and even then, not always)
so is there anyway to send myself a text message, save my number as a contacts name, but edit the number after and still have the orignial text message show up with the assigned name?
when i change the number of the contact then the sms i made comes up as my number now and not the contact, what is crunchsms and where do i get it
You'll probably run into problems texting yourself. Have someone text you then rename that contact to the number. (I hope I am not helping you to commit a crime lol)
Check out CrunchSMS too. I've never used it, but Oniberry is a pretty reliable CrackBerry member around these parts. So if he advises it, check it out.
when i goto edit the name and number, the oringinal text they sent just shows there real number thanks for the help though
I just tried editing someone who sent me a text. I changed his name to +13475552352 and it showed up as that in the text messages application. I'm using a 9360. Don't know why it's not working for you.
k i changed the contact name to the phone number, but it comes up with (home) or (mobile) beside it depending what one i save it under, guess theres not getting away from that
You can always send a text message from any of the automated online SMS services. The number that shows up is usually a routing number like +144000 or +00000, but that's all I can think of.
Using Bounce's link, you can always add the tag at the bottom with the number, and make it look official, as there would be no way to track it. Hope it helps.
Save the GV phone number as a contact in your phone under any name you want.
Send your phone a free text message from GV via GV website.
The text message will appear in your sms inbox and will appear just like any other text message.
Whatever contact/name you save your GV number will show on your phone's "From/Sent By/Reply to" line.
And of course, once you have received the desired effect, you can always change the Contact name you have saved for your GV phone number to a different name and perpetuate the mischief!
