I was waiting to see if someone had received my message because it only had the D with the tick but I accidentally clicked end chat on my bb, and wondering if there is any way of actually knowing if they've read the message, with the R and tick?

Send them a '' and if this shows an R then they have read the previous. Unless they deleted the last conversation too without reading it.

Unfortunaly if you end the chat you can't see it anymore whetever they have read or not.
And same if they would delete your chat without reading it.

The chat has to be open for it to get the "R". If it is closed, there is no way to receive the notification.
