Default How to increase rims profits!

Hi everyone, I own an Iphone 4s and a bold 9900 and use them both. I just switch my micro sim card from the 4s and carefully center it into the 9900. This works because I have a BB data plan, and the BB data plan will work on any smart phone. The BB data plan costs the same as a Smart phone data plan.

So,if you have family members that have iphones, you could technically call the provider and change their Smart phone data plan to a BB data plan and their smart phone will still work without any extra costs. This will give rim more subscribers and more profits!

    Thanks

Here I thought the easiest way for RIM to increase their profits was to produce a product that many people want to buy.
Mobile operating system agnostic (for now):

Blackberry OS: Blackberry Bold 9930, Blackberry Playbook 16GB
    Windows Phone OS: HTC Trophy
iOS: Apple iPhone 4, Apple iPod Touch 4th generation 8GB
Android OS: Motorola Droid 2, Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Asus Transformer Pad TF300T 16GB with keyboard dock
webOS: Palm Pre 2, HP TouchPad 32GB

    Default Interesting

Hmmm. Screw the carriers out of a couple bucks a month and add to RIM's cash flow. No change in your service. I don't see much downside. Would be interesting to see the carriers looking at billing reports and wondering why they have a bunch more BIS accounts than they have BlackBerrys in service.

Might try it with the one none-BB phone smartphone I pay for.
A new paradigm is coming. Can you feel the shifting zeitgeist?

Concur. I've zero interest in increasing RIM's profits. If they come out with a phone I want, I'll probably pick it up. If that serves to increase their profits, then okay.
March of the Smartphones: Handspring Visor with Digital Link > Handspring Treo 600 > Sprint PPC 6700 > Palm Centro > Blackberry Tour 9630 > Blackberry Bold 9650 > Blackberry Torch 9850 > Palm Treo 755p > Blackberry Bold 9930

    Not on AT&T. Doesn't work.

I switched back to T-Mobile because they do support this.

    Rogers doesn't support this either.

U.S. carriers are a strange breed, for example.

AT&T actively block a BIS plan from working with the iPhone, they have an iPhone specific plan (there is a workaround but I couldn't get it working). That same iPhone plan works with Android devices & my Palm Pre... The BIS plan worked with neither android nor my Pre...

T-Mobile allow their BIS plan to work with all devices except T-Mobile branded Android phones (which require an Android specific plan or the browser won't work). However, with an unbranded/unlocked [non T-mobile] Android phone the BIS plan works perfectly.

Makes me wonder if there isn't some revenue sharing going on.
