how far does email go back when activating your blackberry on bes? is it only 1 weeks? what if you want to make it longer? is this possible? if yes, how? if not, i think this is a crappy designed flaw by rims.

It's configurable by your BES admin.

where do you configure that on the bes? and is it configured by size or date? steps by steps instruction or links for instructions to do this would be great.

Yes that is correct, in your initial post you had indicated you wanted more than 1 week, so that is possible (unless you have more than 750 emails in a week)

    BlackBerry Enterprise Server 4.1
    Open BlackBerry Manager.
Choose the BlackBerry Enterprise Server name.
On the Server Configuration tab, select Edit Properties.
    Click Messaging.
In the Message pre-population section, type values for the maximum number of days and maximum number of email messages.

Note: BlackBerry Enterprise Server 4.1 SP3 to 4.1 SP7 can support up to 14 days, or 750 messages.

This was taken from RIM's site for BES 5.0 SP2

"Administrators can configure the BlackBerry Enterprise Server to pre-populate a maximum count of 3000 email messages and a maximum message age of 30 days."

ok my final question is this...what if you want more than the standard 14 days or 750 max messages on your bb when you are activated on bes? is there any possible way? like after activating on bes, can you do a backup and restore using blackberry desktop manager? yes or no? if yes, steps by steps instruction would be great. thx in advance.
