    Hello,

I have had a BB 8700g for several years and just purchased the BB 9630 Tour.
I work in a secure facility and camera phones aren't allowed. The 9630
is the first BB in years with a non-camera option.

I uploaded all of my 8700g information to my PC via the BB Desktop Manager.

My problem is that I have no way of verifying what has uploaded to my PC.
Does anyone know of a way to verify the contents that were uploaded?

Prior to deactivating my 8700g and activating my 9630 Tour I'd like to verify
that all my data is there and ready to download properly to my new 9630 Tour.

BTW, my 8700g was with T-Mobile and my 9630 Tour is with Verizon.

Has anyone gone through the transfer process of moving all your user data
(addess book, memo's, messages, emails, etc.) from one BB to a newer BB device?

    Thanks,

    Steve

As long as you did a full backup everything will transfer. I do backups and
restores numerous times a month and everything works fine. Or even better,
use the device switch wizard on your desktop manager and everything will
    transfer just fine.

    Thanks!

Should I be concerned about the 9630 being Verizon and the 8700g being T-Mobile as this relates to backup & restore using the Desktop Manager?

The Backup and Restore should work regardless of carrier or phone model. There is a 3rd party app that will let you look at the backup files. Download ABC Amber BlackBerry Convertor. It has a free trial. If you restore your 8700 backup onto your 9630, you can then make a backup of the 9630 and look at it with ABC to verify that the information is there. That said, I'll echo forever29. Backup and restore normally works with no problems.

From p. 213 of the User Guide:
Copy a contact from your contact list to your SIM card
    1. In the contact list, click a contact.
    2. Highlight a phone number.
    3. Press the Menu key.
    4. Click Copy to SIM Phone Book.
    5. Press the Menu key.
    6. Click Save.
You have to copy the contacts one at a time, and you can only have one phone number per contact.

In the Address Book, press Menu, then select "SIM Phone Book." That will show you the contacts on your SIM card.

If you have a gmail account, you can download and install their sync app for blackberries: m.google.com/sync

After wards, you can maintain all your contacts in gmail and then sync them with your BB, along with any future changes, additions, or updates.

Much quicker, and easier than other methods.
