    Make sure that all your contacts live in your neighborhood. Then you don't need any area code.

    They don't even have to be far from the caller to need the area codes. Some zones change area code from 1 side of the street to the other. My recommendation, is keep the area codes in the numbers if they are correct.

    At least in the US, in most areas ten digit phone numbers are the standard. It?s possible that the OP lives in an area with one area code, Vermont as an example, or has a contact list that has the same area code. Like most people have said though, it's really just best to keep the area code in the number.
