    ^^ that's a reset. If you're looking to "reboot" without a battery pull, yes, that works.

    You can power off either using the "Turn Power Off" icon on your screen or by pushing & holding the red end call phone button.

    Press on the power key which is located on the top left side on your BB or Menu > scroll to the power icon.
    NB ... This info is inside your User Guide, it take the same time reading the User Guide as it take to read it here.

    If I turn off power with the power button, I dont get the hour glass like I do when i pull the battery. Is it the same thing?

    No. Powering off is just that - turning the power off. The "hour glass" screen comes with a "reboot" (either through a battery pull or the 3-finger salute)
