And the Lumia 520 has 512MB of RAM and a dual core 1GHz processor, and and and wait for it 8GB on board memory storage. oh oh and 480*800 display :O

Why are we comparing low end phones to high end phones?

with your argument - the cheaper the phone - the more it sells...

So Lumnia 520 - which is one of the cheapest smartphones - would outsell every other smartphone.

Sorry, but that just doesn't work.

So that people understand why they sold more phones....because media is including these cheap Lumia phones in comparison to BB10 to generate negativity around Z10 sales.

why wouldint then include them..they are still lumia phones running WP 8? It like telling RIM to leave out curve sales and only compare using 9850s and 99xx! Of course they have a dirt cheap phone and it is selling a ton. BB still needs a low end BB10 phone. Oh thats right they have one in the Q5 except they totally forgot to price it like it should be!

And it was no secret about the 520 sales at all. Many people here have been talking about it and how its going to take sales away from BB and android both

Here is another Idea. Nokia Lumia line has released around 7 phones this year alone. These phones hit almost ALL the different price points there are. They do have a decent OS and good/decent marketing.

Blackberry10 line only has 3 smartphones this year, a couple of which aren't in many target markets yet. They mostly target high-end markets. Even Q5 isnt exactly low end in terms of price and specs. The platform is just around half a year old. Marketing is sub-par.

I think BB10 has a long way to go and they need to hit many different price points to be competitive with the Lumia line.

Oh and by the way 'Lumia 520' didn't sell more than 'Z10'. That is just a very unfounded misrepresentation of an unknown fact.

but isn't that BB's fault that they didn't release phones at multiple price points

Wouldn't it be good for bb10 if 10 million potential app customers were out there instead of 4 million? Yes it would be... so let's hope the Q5 doubles the number of activated and active BB10 devices. The platform needs warm bodies holding devices in their hands right away... higher margin per device is great when the critical mass of users is the key selling point, like it is with iOS and Android (apparently) so more cheap devices in use immediately isn't a bad way to spend money.

Specs do not matter. one who follows BB should not involve specs because BB does not have the best specs. admittedly nor does the Lumia line but it runs butterfly smooth.

when will people learn? better specs does not mean better phone!
look at laggy touchwiz and its billion cores with a meelyan gigs of ram

Who cares if the Lumia is cheaper. Is it as good a phone hardware wise? No, but who cares because if people buy it then the ecosystem around it will grow, no natter what the device. BlackBerry wants in on the "low-end" market as well. Lumia is clearly handling that market well whereas blackberry can't even make a low prices q5 less than $400. All those crappy android low end phones did a lot to develop the Google Play store. That's really all that matters in the end because ecosystem makes or breaks platforms, period. Ecosystems practically are the platforms.

So if anything, Nokia is just succeeding where BlackBerry is not, and that's just business. WP store is much more populated than bb10 BTW.....

So by comparing this to a Z10 upping the 520 specs by 1.5gb of Ram, 8gb storage, and .5ghz on clock speed (they both use and S4) it justifies a price difference of $479!?

My 13 year old could tell the difference between her cousin's Lumia and my Z10, in terms or build quality, keyboard, smoothness etc. The Z10 is a higher end experience for sure. Having said that, I have always been a fan of Nokia and wish them well. Had a Nokia before developing my Crackberry habit, lol.

Considering how much more the Z costs, it should be built better. Now compare that with a Lumia 920, which goes for around the same and that build quality difference dissappears.
