    ask the salesperson...

if no, i know there are ways to move a phone from one carrier to another. people post about it often on crackberry often. search around on here and you may find your answer.

wish i could have been more help. *shrugs*

    good luck.

It will most likely NOT work on Sprint. You can use it on Verizon, and you MAY be able to use it on a GSM carrier if you get it unlocked. For Sprint you need a sprint branded BB.

Correct except for the GSM part. The GSM radio on the 8830 is not compatible with US GSM networks.

Ok bummer. I know the Storm, and possible the upcoming Niagara have up to the EDGE US radios.

Anyways to the OP, I saw a Sprint Curve for sale here in the Market place, but it was a bit more, and of course it's a better phone too....

The Storm is Quad Band so it is possible with the proper service books and all.

8703s are going for less than 100 on ebay and some as cheap as 50 or 60. The 87XX is a GREAT series and a good BB to get started on. I had an 8700c myself at one time. It of course does not have a camera or good multimedia, BUT it has a good browser, bluetooth, speakerphone, and the renowned BB push email.
