Ok 1st my friend bought an 8330 Curve on the Sprint Network, but it is still active and she can't activate it. She emailed the seller hopefully it will get a clearn esn.. We understand this part of it and it should be worked out in a day or 2

But can it still be locked or certain features be locked or disabled by an IT dept. ?

It sure can. If it is still on the BES server all the IT policies that
the admin has designated will still be on the phone and will be
restored even if the phone is wiped.

Your next step is to have it released from the BES, and then use
CrackUtil to remove the IT policy.

Tell your provider that they are to contact RIM to release it.

Tell them you are still getting the old owners emails.
