Help crack in LCD when phone sat on my desk
- Before you ask NO I did not drop it kick it have it in back pocket etc....I literally talked on it for about five minutes....placed it on my desk as I always do when i go to lunch, in my office (which is locked when Im not in it). Came back from lunch took it out of pouch and there is a hairline crack in LCD and a little black blob in the middle of the line. I literally stared at it an watched the hairline crack grow almost all the wasy across the screen. What the **** happened and should it be covered under warranty. THE PHONE IS PERFECT NOT A KNICK OR SCRATCH ON IT. Curve 8300 3 mo old from Alltel12-05-08 08:24 PMLike 0
- i love my blackberry and im really rough on it, and its not even scratched...and by rough i mean it fell out of my pocket and onto my cement driveway....
im wondering if maybe the phone was defective at purchase and the problem finally got big enough for you to see it.
good luck!12-05-08 10:51 PMLike 0 - Is it a crack in the plastic on top of the screen or a tear in the actual LCD itself? I used to work at an Alltel store and saw this from time to time where the plastic was fine but there was a tear in the LCD itself (not on a BB though). Typically any physical damage isn't covered by manufacturers warranty, but I've seen a couple cases where the phone was less than 30 days old and this happened and we replaced the phone. It's definitely worth a shot to get it replaced under warranty, good luck.12-06-08 09:21 AMLike 0
- All I know is my carrier claims no lcd damage can be covered by warranty. I had a old nokia that the lcd just blacked out and quit workin no scratches or damage anywhere but they said an extreme heat source like leaving the phone in a car all day in the summer caused it. My phones stay on me 24 7 and I hate heat so they stay cool. But I keep spares around just incase. Hope you have better luck with your carrier.

I take the cheap road sometimes. Now when I get a bold that will be another story.
