YES SOLVED , totally working , version is v4.6.1.133 , you will got an update notification as soon as you connect your device to the desktop manager, once downloaded follow the instruction and you should be fine, only thing i noticed that the bb maps are not included in the download so you would need to download it by your own from the bb site and is available for free, cheers everyone

I saw this problem with Etisalat and the 8310, too. It seems they dont want their users to enjoy the GPS capabilities of the phone! That being the case, its a carrier issue, not a phone hardware/software issue.

Go Outside in a clear unobstructed view of the sky.

Go into your Options > Advanced Options > GPS > Menu > Refresh GPS. Wait for the phone to get refreshed. After this is done, go check back in your maps application. You should be good to go.
Dumb question, but I dont have the data package with my 8900. I use it for texting mainly and every so often i use wifi. Will GPS work for me?

GPS works regardless of a data plan or WiFi. The apps that utilize GPS may need a data plan to get the maps, most do. However you can get some 3rd party applications that allow you to download your own maps and use them regardless of a data plan or WiFi. Here is one option:
