Hah! I would have kept my Storm2. It may be old, but it still does everything that Android and iOS cannot.

No. I whanted to move away from android.

I am a happy Z10 owner, but my second choice would probably be a Lumia. Thank you BB, for sticking to your guns with BB10 and taken the difficult road, which is becoming to be a highway!!

On any handset running a customised version of 'Android', be it from a manufacturer or a custom ROM, it isn't Android - only the Nexus devices actually run Android.
Different manufacturers add customised software, it's like a Linux distro isn't the Linux Kernel.

I like the fact BlackBerry make the OS and the hardware, with a bit more development I'm hoping apps like Hub++ etc aren't needed as the customisations are baked in to the OS.

I'd probably wait for Ubuntu for phones | Ubuntu to come out. Pick me up a 9900 or two to hold me over.

The idea of my phone doubling as a desktop in a pinch is really neat!

    No, I would steal a prototype Z10.
Fortunately I have the Z10 in my hands right now, so now they will have to take it from my cold dead hands.

My Z10 is so good that it accurately predicted me saying "From my cold dead hands" (although I did have to type dea to get dead) .

Maybe. If RIM had taken more of an Amazon style approach where it was not even called Android but rather borrowed from Android, then probably yes. But stock Android with a skin? No.

No. Bb10 is so much more than what you mentioned and would not be even close to what it is if on android. Not hating on android, just love bb10 and no other available right now.

I've been a BB guy all my smartphone career, but last autumn, came very close to buying a Nexus 4.

Im pretty sure if Z10 didn't impress me like it does, I'd be rocking a sony Xperia Z right now.

I am getting the Z10 because it is different. I hate Apple. I hate my Droid 3. If this were just another Android phone, I'd jsut get an S3 unless it did something amazing.

I moved from Android and wouldn't want to go back. It's just so clunky in my experience.

The Z10 does run android apps, it does have security, awesome email and it has BBM, and I do own one! So I guess the answer to your question is yes!

You know, I think the biggest feature to me was how easy navigation was - multi tasking and having the hub always a swipe away. You may call me what you want, but I never held loyalty to any platform (though was starting to hate my GD iPhone), but when I saw the videos demonstrating how to move around the phone, I was sold.
So if I couldn't use BB10, then I'd wind up waiting for a new Android phone, since I've never given them a shot. Maybe the next HTC One

Had BlackBerry gone down that route, I'd just have bought myself a Samsung Galaxy S3/4, or maybe the Nokia Lumia 920. I personally believe that BlackBerry made the right choice by sticking to its own OS

I think it would have been hard for BlackBerry to succeed in a market dominated by Samsung. Motorola and HTC are barely getting by, at least compared to the numbers Samsung puts out. BlackBerry would have been lost in the sea of different manufacturers, and it would have opened up the company to the same security flaws that the other companies have seen. Plus, it would mean that BBM would not be unique to BlackBerry anymore (one hack and it would be available on every Android device) .

I bought a BlackBerry because it is a BlackBerry.

In my opinion, Android is just the anti-Apple. Apple does it one way, Android does it another way. The big drawback is Apple does many things right. So doing it wrong to just not be like Apple is Android's biggest weakness.

BB10 started at WebOS and went beyond. Not a bad approach at all. I think BB10 is superior in concept to the other smartphone OSes.

I would not buy a Blackberry if it was the 'same old' Android that half the market uses.
