Can this ever happen to BlackBerry World? BlackBerry is known for its security credentials and I would be extremely disappointed if it does! BlackBerry for life.

Ok all jokes aside it probably could as by the sounds of it, it's the apps themselves that got hacked and not android, the operating system...

It really depends upon how the "hack" happened.

Chances are, the apps were modified and replaced on Google Play by the hackers. The problem seems to be how the link between Sky and Google Play is verified. To add to that, the fact the apps put onto Google Play aren't verified by anyone (we've all heard stories about viruses on the Android platform) doesn't help the situation.

So, to answer your original question, no, this (probably) couldn't happen on BlackBerry World (same as it didn't on Apple's App Store) because all apps are (supposedly) verified internally by BlackBerry.

I feel bad for the people that have the job of verifying BlackBerry apps for BlackBerry World. I can just imagine eight hour shifts each day of testing nothing but off line GPS map app after off line GPS map app. A never ending flow of thousands of pointless off line GPS map apps that no one downloads. Lol it would have to be horrible.
