Looks cool, DLink - I haven't. Only read about it. Anyone out there with some substantial information!
I signed up with them about six months ago, before I could get a number in my area code. I asked for my area code and a month or two later got it! Love the service. Works well with all my phones. I even got a GizmProject VoIP line for the laptop cuz of them. Should bring some really interesting possibilities to GMail,Gtalk and the Gapps Highly recommended
Thanks for the information. Will definitely check it out.
And Welcome to the Wonderful World of Crackberry!
looks cool. i signed up to give it a try
I have been a members since before it was purchased by google. They have some really cool feature, but I don't use it because the number isn't in my area code and I don't want to give everyone a new phone number.
According to the website... this is still in private beta and immediate invites can only be provided by existing users. GrandCentral will only provide invites when they become a public beta.
Care to offer an invite?
Thanks!
I have 10 invites. I need your first/last name and email address. I will be happy to provide some invites. Send me your info in a pm and I will try to get one to you ASAP.
Im in the same config mode.. Gizmo + GC . When I was in Japan i was using this to make calls all over the US when I was bored and no one ever knew i was in japan. Best part I was using my Jabra JX-10 BT'd to my Laptop talking and it was absolutely flawless. Ive yet to try grandcentral with a BB. Im still new to the BB and im using my work's antequated 7520. I'm still looking at getting a 8803 for my personal use.
9 invites left. Hobbs, I just emailed you yours. Anyone else need one? PM me.
trevorhiller... Thank you... it is greatly appreciated. As soon as I get registered, I will be back to share the wealth with others looking for an invite.
Thank you again.
Okay...
After taking care of a few people... I've got 5 more invites to hand out. The first 5 who PM me get them.
Thanks!
this is the best.. give the grandcentral # to certain people and add it to your 5 favs and bam free calls for ALL!
Not a big fan. Have had an account since they kicked the service off. Several strategic and tactical problems with the idea:
1.) No Ownership: You don't control the number. If you run around and tell all your friends the number and then if GrandCentral/Google hikes the cost of their service, and you want to keep the number, you're stuck. It's their number, they own it. You can't port it to a new service.
2.) Complicated: I have an extremely cool number already. yyy.xxx.1111. It's a number I can tell people one time and they'll remember it. The numbers GrandCentral gives out are generic and not necessarily ones that might be easy to remember.
3.) Phony: If you give all your friends the GrandCentral number, your friends will know it's a phony number the first time you call them back and they see your real number on their caller id. Why call you on a phony number when they can call you on your real number?
4.) Been There/Done That: None of these services ever last. This concept has been tried over and over and over and over. The companies always fail in the end. Cisco bought a company in this business a couple of years back and ran it for awhile and then after paying $170 million for it, quietly shut it down. Cisco is a well-run company. If they can't make a go of it, there is little likelihood anyone else is going to do any better.
Again, not a big fan of these companies who do this thing. I have ten invites. If anyone CrackBerries out there want them, send me a message and I'll try to get you an invite when I get a spare moment. My only recommendation is not to permanently print your GrandCentral number on any letter head that you plan to print in mass quantities as again, none of these companies ever make it in the long stretch.
yeah i think as a second # and something for my personal accounts ill use it but i dont think its a good look for everybody. But still cool none the less to me
