I have recently updated to BBM 5.0 and my location requests and proximity alerts are disabled as well, I have even tried to use my GPS through blackberry maps and nothing seems to work...

Anyone with a fix for this or a reason why its not working? Should I downgrade to the old BBM?

Have you tried anything to resolve this?? Such as:

Battery pull (quick pull and / or a REAL battery pull)
Verify GPS says Location ON (options - advanced options - GPS)
Sent service books?

I have tried everything you listed, with the exception of sending service books. Trying that now, will update in a minute.

Resent service books, and got BBmaps to pick up my GPS location. Now trying to use location feature on BBM 5
