    Does having your gps "location on" affect anything? I set it to On for using Poynt

    I am set to Location On as well.
    GPS functionality only works with this setting for any and all Apps with GPS features.
    The trade-off is a slight battery drain for most.

    If I want to use Poynt, Maps, etc, I don't want to go through 5 extra steps and have to wait longer...

    I am not a power user.... but if GPS apps are closed when not in use I have seen no change in battery life. Only my weather app on and battery lasts 2 days.

    I agree. The difference for most is slight/negligible with the GPS Apps closed.
