- I do a lot of walking and am looking for a GPS application for my 8310 that will simply show me my current speed, distance walked, altitude and time. At the end show me average speed. I don't need tracks or trails or waypoints.
The nokia phones with GPS have this built in and its really useful.
Anyone know of an appropriate app?03-11-09 03:13 AMLike 0 - You might look at GPS logger and Black* (which is found in the thread on "app that shows lat/long..." Black* has a compass and may show some of that data.
Hey, folks, maybe it's time for Black* to separate out a new thread that makes it clearer what it does.03-11-09 09:17 AMLike 0 - Based on what you are using it for, I don't think BlackStar will suit your needs.
You do want something that does keep tracks. You may not want to export them, but without the tracks, you will not be able to accurately determine distances. Otherwise after your walk, your start and end will be the same and distance will be a few feet. With the tracks, it will record your whole walk.
I have not used GPSLogger, but heard it is great. If that does not suit your needs, GPSed would.
I have used GPSed (gpsed.com) for walks before and it works great. It uses a sideways scroll to switch screens which was not entirely obvious.
I believe GPSLogger will show you more stats on your walk such as altitude change, but there is a thread in this forum that can give you a lot more info.03-11-09 10:10 AMLike 0
