    Default GPS Apps

I'm a relative newbie and was wondering if third party GPS apps work with a Storm? I'm on Verizon and wanted to install AmazeGPS. Thanks

LOTS of options... search this forum for "GPS" or "navigator" and you'll find a lot of threads talking about the various pros and cons of the available GPS apps.
I'm a big fan of the Garmin app, but different apps work better for different people.

Currently, AmAzeGPS does not work with the Storm on Verizon.

    There are other options.

One is NAV4ALL. It is free, but not, IMO, as feature rich as amAzeGPS.

There is also Garmin for the Storm which is between $75-$95 bucks depending on where you get it.

There is also VZNavigator which is kind of a rip-off if you think about it. You pay $10 a month which comes out to $120/year, while Garmin is a one time fee and a lot better feature wise.

I here Telnav (think I'm saying that right) is another paid option.

If your not looking for turn-by-turn GPS solutions and just want GPS then I would go with Google Latitude

Many people, me included do NOT consider VZNavigator a rip off at $10 monthly. That includes updating which the yearly Garmin fee does not. You would have to pay yearly for Garmin to fairly compare unless you are not concerned about updates. Also I find the VZNavigator superior feature wise to the Garmin mobile. YMMV.

My understanding of Garmin for the Blackberry is that only the main app resides on your BB. The maps, POI's and info such as that all resides on Garmin's servers which are always updated at no fee to the end user.

If I am not correct with my above understanding, please point me to the page that tells me I will have to pay a fee yearly.
