The same happened to me. I bought a new digitizer on ebay for ten pounds and replaced it myself, just last week.

It is just 10 torx screws and some ribbon cables, you only remove the inner cover and the motherboard and put it into the replacement part.

The fun part is your basically get a new phone, coz the digitizer comes with sidewall and all buttons.

The whole thing took me ten minutes. Muuuuuuch easier than replacing digitizer on iPhone.

There are just so many options out there and these Z10 phones are outdated. There's the curved edge, Galaxy and host of other phones there.

So what did I get instead? Say hello to the Z30!

So far just not happy with the case (not as good as the Z10 folding case). Hopefully I will have this for another year or more like the Z10.

The curved edge is no good. Go and look carefully at one. It creates a distracting band of reflected light that expands into the screen space. I wish they didn't have it on the the Slider. But, yes, Z10 sucks but Z30 is great and the Passport is awesome.

no there is no upgrade path for Z30 owners...especially on VZW the largest carrier in the US.
the passport is not offered and there is nothing that guarantees the slider will come to VZW either and who really wants a pkb?

Enjoy the Z30! But you might consider replacing the screen on your Z10 and save it as a spare phone. I've got 2 of them sitting in my file cabinet, along with 2 spare new Z30's!

The Z30 is one of those phones that comes along once in a blue moon; sure it's behind the specs of lots of newer phones but it's still such a great combination of specs/features, and with many opportunities along the way to score a great deal on them.

I am also on VZW. I went from a Q10 to Z30. I typed a little more accurately on the Q, but overall the full touch has too many advantages with screen size.

I see you posting a lot about this. So hang tight a second - you do realize the following, yes? :
-Slider is (allegedly) coming to Verizon
-Has a FULL TOUCH screen, 5.4 inches, thus BIGGER than Z30
-FULL HD, 1440x1440
-Faster GPU than PassPort
-Better camera than PassPort

You've been a BB user a lot longer than many of us here and I think it would be a tragedy to lose you to iOS or something. I guess what I don't understand is - help me out - minus the dinky little keyboard, WHICH YOU NEVER HAVE TO USE NOT EVEN ONE TIME -
What exactly is the problem with the Slider device as an upgrade for you?

Especially if the specs are that good, it has ALL the BB niceities, and also let's you use the Android App ecosystem, including valuable apps for work and enterprise?

It's coming to Verizon, it's enormous, it's full touch, it's terrific specs, it's BlackBerry, it's an unbelievable battery. What else would hold you back?

This one is for STL100-1. I know the other versions of Z10 have a different inner arrangement.

The Z30 is a great phone. I was tempted to buy a second as a spare in case something happened to mine, but with a non-replaceable battery I don't want it sitting around for a year or two then not have a fully functional battery I can't change.
