It would be so nice if you could assign it a name in the settings, even picking the gender and dialect. Actually, giving it more of its own personality would be even more amazing. It would be like your interacting with an actual person.

So would you say Siri's impact (when introduced) on the popularity of iPhone was:

    A. Nonexistent
    B. Moderate
    C. significant

When you answer truthfully and knowledgeably, it doesn't seem so dumb.
I think and still do Siri is not widely used and is in no way a great assistant for anyone to use. It's 100 times better and faster to just simply open browser and type in Google, or swipe to page 2 of apps and open calendar.

To answer your question. Moderate...it was in no way an immediate success. and many would argue the adoption rate today is still not successful. I never have seen anyone use it around me other than for amusement purposes.

So yes to me and my own opinion it seems dumb to try to try and turn it into a human like app...

The moment these assistants can be 100% fluent in conversation with us then I will be more accepting of trying to create a personality of the program. Until then since it can't communicate to you and carry a full conversation and understand everything you say like a human, it shouldn't ever be referred to or spoken to as a human. The only reason to name a thing like this would be if it's a trigger word...ie, "Berry, bbm joe" and without entering any app it automatically sends the message. if you have to open the app then press a button to start it listening, why would you say a name? Just say "call home". Why call it "siri, call home" it's useless.

Also on top of it all...I will not be fooled by the fact that "siri" is a marketing campaign for Apple. Create a sense of relationship between u and the phone and u will become more attached to it...apple does it really well, and that's what they have done with siri.

    Anyways...impact of siri when introduced.
.moderate...voice control was around long before siri, so nothing crazy done there.

    Rant over.

It should be a catchy gender-neutral name that sounds futuristic or high-tech. They should offer voice packs like some GPS providers offer. Get some unique personalities on there for a reasonable cost.
