I just picked mine up today. On the engineering screen it reads "type b charger", which is what you get with the old PlayBook charger.

Are you saying that there is a PlayBook charger that shows something different?

No, I'm saying my z10 called the cheap charger by the same name as the one that came with a PlayBook. So that would make them equivalent as far as being sniffed by a Z10.

The z10 is already fully charged with the new charger. I forgot to time it. But I will deem it the same as the PlayBook.

Since these are actually original BlackBerry Playbook chargers, that does not come as a massive surprise.

I don't think BB10 recognizes anything other than "Type B charger" and "USB Host". I certainly have never seen anything else. (This is based on what Battery Guru reports, which is basically just what the OS reports)

ACC is reported for Qi charging.

My PlayBook charger is different. It is larger and has interchangeable power plugs. HDW-34725-001.

Incidentally, if you have an old charger with a mini versus micro, don't toss it. Uniden released a scanner that runs off a mini. You may run into someone that could use the mini.

I got these in the mail this week. They look and perform like OEM. Gotta love the speed at which it charges my Z10!

Yep, they're nice. I might buy more.

I did notice at one point that it had stopped charging, and after I unplugged for a few secs and plugged back in it was working again.

My guess is that there is an internal over-current protector or something, and either I somehow momentarily shorted the connector when plugging something, or perhaps when using it with my tablet or something it decided that was too much current draw and shut off temporarily.

It will actually charge my 10" Lenovo tablet - even while in use but very slowly - which is very finicky about chargers. Not super-fast, but on that tablet if you want fast charging you have to use the dock that connects to a 65 watt laptop charger.

Yeah, that's pretty cool, the cheapest I could find for Z30 is $15 and it comes in two piece. I just sent them a message telling I just need the case part not the clip part, no response so far.

I want that rectangular shape on my Z30 and all cases are just too curvey.

    Hey guys...

    Just wanted to share this.

Im not pulling the trigger, but it is a great deal.

The SAME chargers as in this deal are now 2 for 1 at the crackberry store in canada

BlackBerry Premium Micro-USB Charger | BlackBerry Wall Chargers | CrackBerry Canada

$20 for 2 of them, when you add the Easter code 'HOP14' you save $4. Making it $18 for both, $9 for each (tax included).

This works out to about the same as the deal posted here, but you are supporting CB.

you need to spend $50 for free shipping though.

    Hope this helps

It's not the same deal at all. You can get the chargers on ebay for $6 for 3 of them. That's 3 chargers for $6 total!

Not to mention, Crackberry has had some nasty security problems with their store that ended up compromising a lot of people's credit-cards, among other things.

I avoid it like the plague now.

My transaction with this eBay vendor was smooth and incident free, and since I paid with Paypal I don't have to worry about someone compromising my credit cards.

FWIW: I had a co-worker take one of mine home to check to see if it works on his Samsung Note 8, and it does. Though apparently the original charger that comes with that device is actually rated for a bit more power output - 2.1A rather than 1.8A.

I went back and ordered another 3 pack for $6 which makes it $2/each. Now I can safely throw away all those other crappy charges had lying around. I just wanted to make sure the first one I got was working fine, now that it's confirmed, it's time to load up on more charger. Good think he doesn't sell 5 pack for $10, it's like a bad addiction with these charges. I think plastic and the cord alone is worth more than $2, but what the heck, like the pirate jake in neverland says, let's grab them and go.
