The was a review that with the square screen that most of the android apps and games do not function properly. Is this true? Was thinking of buying one but kids want to.play games too

Not really true...
You have 2 black rows like a movie, vertical or horizontal, as you orientate the device...
Since the screen is big, it is not a problem!
Only some Apps adapt and fill the whole screen!
I'll post some examples here, from my 1:1 screen

Kids can use the phone you have now to play games. Or are you going to smash this phone once you decide to buy the PP?

Thank you so much for replying to my concerns. Off to go purchase one. And no two kids so youngest can use z30 in an otter box case and oldest can share BP with me

Some games have been adapted to the 1:1 screen.
You have to allow device identification when you give the permission while installing the App.

Angry Birds for example, works without distorsion, the sky begins at the top of the screen, but the buttom is a black surface, like when you watch a movie.

Some games like Lego Ninja, (see former link) replaced the 2 black rows by parts of the grafics, what I found a nice idea!
