This is why its always great to do reletively frequent backups! If you are backed up then you should be alright if it wipes

There is no remedy except to remember your password. As already said, 10 incorrect tries in succession and the phone wipes itself and reverts to out-of-the-box configuration. No workarounds, no backdoors, no hacks. RIM is very proud of their security features!
