Simple, common courtesy should be the rule with all phones, not just BBs.
I always assume that if someone is chatting or texting in public where I can hear/see, it is because they want to share, so I'm not above making it obvious I'm listening/looking. After all, if they didn't want me to participate, they would be a little more discreet.
And, for pity's sake, if you drive while on a phone or, heavan forbid, while texting or reading messages, don't do it around me. I would prefer to have you notice that you are not the only driver on the road, instead of being distracted and driving way too slow, switching lanes into space occupied by others and making last minute turns across several lanes of traffic. (Yes, I do live where there are way too many cars and way too many idiots not paying attention while on their phones.)

Just common sense really. . . . don't use it when it's inappropriate to do so, ie when driving (unless you're talking through a BT headset. . .absolutely NO texting etc!), in church, restaurant, cinema etc. I've also been out in company when the people you're with spend all their time texting other people. . .very rude! Also. . .if you're on a train and want to listen to music on it then use a headset & don't have it playing too loud. . .it's really frustrating when the person next to you is doing that and all you can hear is a faint buzzing/ringing/singing/drum beat in your ear!!

Just having a guy next to you who keeps his blackberry in "Loud" profile in a quiet environment is really annoying even worse when he leaves his desk and leave his phone on the desk.
-
So we're at the theatre watching a movie, and buddy behind us spend the entire night on his Blue Tooth talking talking to all his ghetto friends. It was one call after another. None stop. He would not finish. If he wasn't there with a group of his 'BOYZ' I would have said something, but it was only my g/f and I. It was so rude of him though.

i think therea re some place where the bb is not welcome and i try to respect that but is so tough...... i get problems to dont response to a incoming mail or call but i do and im alive so...
-
one of my colleagues is such a crackberry addict, that he was answering messages during his wedding reception party. ouch!!
-
My rules changed when my wife got her bb and an addict. Now I can use it all the time, mostly I am txt'ing her. I would follow the same rules of a cell phone in public, no resturaunts, no move theaters ect.

The first rule of Fight Club......Whoops! Wrong forum! If you use good common sense, you'll be okay. The only thing, don't shortened every word when texting.
-
With a full keyboard, you should not practice bad grammar any longer. (Bad grammar is tolerable, I believe, on the standard 12-key phone pad. I will still be annoyed but less so.)
-
Now YOU KNOW that is funny. hahahahahahaha OK, sorry, maybe not for you. I think I would find a strategic hiding place for her berry, if you get my drift. LOL

My experience with another user is....my boss. It worries me when he visits my theater and starts taking notes on his BB. A day later, I get that memo with "visit notes". Not a big deal....it's the suspense on waiting for what I need to do.
I can't stand when you are talking to someone and just get the "a-ha, yep" response when they are BB'ing while I'm talking to them.

If you're in a quiet restaurant, leave the BB on vibrate or silent.
Or if you're at the dinner table with your girlfriends parents for the first time, don't reply to emails or start texting.
-
People who can't bother to turn it to silent or vibrate in a meeting! ....and then let it ring a couple of times after interupting everyone.
-
definitely need to show some restraint during meals and while driving!
-
Heck no what kind of question is that??
-
ok after reading the above posts, i change my answer to not everyone wants to hear your bb!
-
My favorite is when I get a text message and I totally turn off whoever is talking to me so I can reply back.

BB rules of etiquette
An easy one: turn it off when in court. Not just silenced, as the BB breaks up the courtroom PA system.
-
Rule Number 1: never fight and bb
Rule Number 2: she decides if itz a fight about bb
Rule Number 3: she is kind when she lets me bb
Other then that i saw a person pick up my bb and attempt
to access my stuff, thatz the closest to Rude i can think of.
-
I have not run into any rude BB owners, I am sure they are out there, but have not run into.
-
I haven't figured any out yet, please others share..
-
Use common sense, be courteous, use general cell phone etiquette.
-
1. Don't use while driving (unless stopped at a light or talking with a headset on)
2. Don't use it during a movie (either at home or in a theater)
Hmm otherwise I'd just say use common sense. As long as you aren't bothering anyone go for it!

rude bb users?
To tell you the truth, most BB users I know are pretty friendly. Especially the CB ones!
