Fastest way to start composing SMS?
Hey all,
I've been using my BB 8800 for quite a while now, and I'm embarassed to say that I'm unsure as to the quickest way to begin Composing an SMS message to someone.
What I currently do from the Home screen is hit 'M' for Messages (keyboard shortcut), hit the Menu key and click Compose SMS Message. I type in the first letters of the person's name and when I find him/her, click the trackball to select.
(Alternatively, I also use qSMS, an application that allows me to begin searching a contact to begin a text by typing the 'Q' key from the Home screen.)
Then the BB asks me which number would I like to text, home, mobile or work, which is kind of a pain, because I wish to either have the BB automatically understand it should not bring up 'home' as an option, or otherwise allow me to select a default number when texting.
From there, I'm off. But that's not all.
When my contact replies back to me, typically I wish to reply back to them. At that point, I can easily type 'R' on their message, and the BB will automatically reply back to that person.
But my inboxes are combined, showing both sent and received messages, which I like. Sometimes, I send a lot of messages to one contact. The BB however will only allow me to use that 'R' shortcut on messages I receive and not send, which kinda makes sense, but sometimes results in me scrolling to find a message they sent me and not the other way around before I can reply.
Otherwise, if I were to have the BB highlight a message that I sent, and hit the Menu key, there is no Reply option (well, obviously, I don't want to reply back to myself), but the only option that exists is to Compose SMS Message, in which I have to find the contact (again) and select their mobile number before I can begin texting.
It just seems like, to me, a threaded SMS application might reduce a lot of keypresses/scrolling for me.
Does anyone have any advice, or agree, or is this as quick as it gets? It's really not a big deal, but I've had this device for a while, I just want to make the most of it.
Thanks.
