Earphones Matters
Either I have weird shaped ears or the earbuds that BB provides don't fit right. It came with a few different earbud mould sizes, but none stays put. And none are comfy.
Now, I I've had a few Apple products before an issue generally dislike then, asthetics aside. One huge exception istheir signature unmistakable Apple earbuds that probably did half of the marketing job that propelled apple from smallfry to ubiquitous.
For BB10, will we get awesome earphones??? - 11-15-2012, 10:17 PM #2
Now that you mention it, they may choose to include some revamped earphones with the new wave of products.
On the other hand, they're still stock earbuds that immediately go in the drawer in its wrapping, only to be seen if something were to happen to my daily drivers. Some people just throw them out. If you're having trouble with earbuds that don't fit right, you may want to try your hand at looking into getting some in-ear monitors with foam tips that conform to the shape of your ear canal, similar to the little ear protectors. Although it's a matter of preference, I find that they fit far better than any earbud that sits on the outside of the ear canal. Some good manufacturers are Shure, Ultimate Ears, V-Moda, Klipsch, etc... If price is your concern, as these earphones can be pretty expensive, the most comfortable earbud I've ever tried was made by Panasonic. It had an oval-shaped eartip that fit perfectly into my ear-canal (which is oval in shape as well). Perhaps the most comfortably fitting ones were made by Panasonic Or you could try some "cans", the big headsets that cover your entire ear if you don't mind the bulk.Blatant placeholder signature. - 11-15-2012, 10:42 PM #3

I've been thinking about this a lot lately (I'm weird).
The ONLY good earphones I've gotten with a BlackBerry are the ones that came with the Bold 9000 on at&t, with the different size black ear gel things. I love those. I was using those up until last Christmas when I got the Bose MIE2i earbuds. I like them because they feel great and sound even better, but the i means that it's really meant for Apple devices, so on my iPod touch and Mac Book Pro, I can use the volume and mute thing on the wire. I can use the mute button on calls on my BlackBerry, but that's it.
I have been disappointed with the earbuds that RIM and T-Mobile have included with every BlackBerry I've purchased (I bought the Bold 9000 unlocked from Best Buy, at&t branded). I always buy the high end BlackBerrys, specifically the 9700, then the 9780, then the 9900 and Torch 9810. The 9900 and 9810 came with pretty bad dinky little black ones, but even on the "media-centric" 8320 Curve, RIM's first one with a full keyboard and camera, the earbuds were still not very good.
I've always thought that RIM should court Bose into a partnership. All I ever hear about is Beats By Dre. They're on HP computers now, on HTC phones, and sold in Apple stores. Beats By Dre seems kind of juvenile to me. The headphones are usually really bright and attention-seeking...which is not the image of the BlackBerry and Bose brand. Bose earphones or speakerphone on a BlackBerry would probably resonate with customers and seeing that QNX does a lot of bigger audio things, a new and improved BlackBerry Music Gateway device sold with Bose speakers or something would be cool. Imagine the "BlackBerry, with Bose" commercials....Sean

I'd rather RIM spend the money elsewhere and just cheap out on the earbuds, giving us the option to buy any higher end earphones. I'm personally really liking my Plantronics Backbeat Go's.

Bose would be nice!
However, I disagree that BB should get cheap ones to save money for other things.
It's not about having good earphones - its about 2 facts:
1. Apple was touted as being awesome at all aspects, down to the magnetic cords.
2. You walk down the street and see the while earphones - you know its apple. It became a status symbol of sorts back in 2008-2009.
BB should have something that is noticable, where it sticks out as a marketing frontier. BACK in the day when they made Holsters cool, that was the marketing frontier. Holsters are NOT cool now, so they need a new marketing frontier!
Bluetooth headphones!??
