What's the best thing to do at this point?
put it into a ziplock bag with white rice and leave it be for a couple days
cry....but let the device dry out for a few days and see if it will work..you can try putting it in a container with rice as it will absorb the moisture
take the battery out and make sure theres no water just sitting in the area. Then pray
to who the blackberry gods?
probably to whoever he prays to. lol you wouldnt know anything bout that huh
Praying won't fix your blackberry. Sorry JS, odds are good you'll have to buy a new one.
I take it you didn't get the insurance?
lol
I have had luck with the rice trick just make sure you pulled the battery as soon as it got wet...
There is hope

I noticed that you didnt explain your situation. Is it not working??? Has the indicator changed color???......details man we need details....
I had a dream the other night my blackberry fell in some water and it was devastating lol
I dropped mine in water a couple of weeks ago. I quickly removed battery and dried what I could. I took the hair dryer and left it running about 30 minutes on medium heat about 1 foot away. It seemed fine ,but next day screen had all kinds of lines. I called insurance, and phone came 3 days later, but I refused because phone retuned to normal and has been fine since.
Electronics can be submerged in water, that's not the thing that messes it up. Its the current running through the chips while they r wet and it short circuits. Take batt out fast then lay the phone and batt after u dry it off on a low heat emitting object. ie tv computer monitor or cable box
Patience is key in this situation. To early may short it out. I'd wait 5-7 days

Wow I have never heard that trick put in a baggie with rice. Makes sence there are some resturants I have seen have rice in the salt shakker for that same reason.... Moisture absorbation.
Watch out tho some services have a little indicator that turns red that will tell them that it took a bath. VZW I know has that lil dot and if your insurance does not cover water damage well I would say I lost it if I ever did that. I hope not tho one of my old flip nextels maybe a I90 was submerged as the canoe I was in flipped over but they did not have that little indicator in it called up and got my new one. :)

The other thing which does damage is corrosion, so it needs to be clean and dried as soon as possible.
The problem is that most water is not pure water, it contains small quantities of dissolved salts. Worst case is probably seawater. If electronic equipment gets really wet (flooded) the priority is to remove the battery. As it is already wet it can't do any harm to wash it out with deionised or distilled water (fresh tap water if nothing else is available) to remove salts. Then get it dried out as fast as possible without using too much heat (don't melt the plastic) - hand warm is fine, not too hot to touch, and with good airflow.
If you have it Silica Gel is even better than rice. This is the stuff that comes with electronic equipment, in little paper packs marked Do Not Eat. It might need reactivating with a few hours in a warm oven (about 150C) to drive out all the moisture it has already absorbed before it is used.
Yeah at att you can't return a phone or get a replacement if there's water damage too

That sucks for ATT users....isn't the idea of insurance to cover accidents??? I guess ATT users have to report a lost phone.
Question what to do if you didnt' take the battery out right away ? and your phone has keys that wont work and the trackball select feature doesnt work :(
I got a friend who scored some of the white to pink indicators from umm well a source he has all sizes and shapes he swaps them out trades phones and walks out laughing now days you can do anything if you have the connections.
