I find the brightness of the z30 screen to be too dim. Is it brighter on 10.3+?

I believe its a hardware issue that is handicapped by the OLED screen used on the Z30. Software isnt gonna make it any brighter unfortunately.

So, anyone else with a z30 with 10.3 or more can tell me if the brightness increases at all?

That's another issue I take with the Z30. While the sound is great the screen falls behind. For one it has the same resolution as the Z10 screen only on a bigger screen which sacrifices the quality of the images. Secondly the specs fall behind today's latest releases. Other than that physically, it's a nice looking phone. Would love it if JC just upgraded the screen and the specs in general.

No it doesn't and BlackBerry is completely buttocks backwards not letting it's users disable the automatic brightness feature. BlackBerry has only ever produced 2 AMOLED devices (Z30 and Q10). I can guarantee with utmost certainty they will not produce another. It's all LCD from here on in.

It can be made brighter the screen was even more dull when the phone was initially released. 10.2.1 saw an increase in the brightness. I think the fear will be that increasing the brightness will sacrifice battery life and the risk of screen burn-in which could affect the shelf life of the phone.

I realize there is lots of debate on this issue but I came from Z10 and I have to say I absolutely love the screen on my Z30!! Colors are richer and the blacks are darker. Just looks fantastic IMO. I would never go back.

I'm not sure, as I've been on 10.3.1 for so long. I have my brightness at about 50%. Much more and it burns a hole in my retina.

The screen is made the way it is to conserve battery life.

How about giving the consumer the option whether to have it dim or not? This puts me in the fence. I want a 16:9 phone but the z10 battery stinks and the z30 screen isn't as bright as I'd like on 10.2.1. And ro is coming out in Feb? Too long of a wait I reckon.
