I don't know how often Blackberry releases new phones but I was just wondering if anyone knew if/when there would be a newer/different Pearl released. Has there been any talk or is there a time frame in which they usually update phones?

With all the new technology out there today, don't look for anymore in the 8xxx series. The last of the 8xxx series is on the way of the CDMA version of the Curve. The 9xxx series is just around the corner with 3G technology and there is talk about the 4G technology in the air, yet 3G hasn't fully hit the ground as yet.
Wow, I wish I knew what any of that meant! What's CDMA? 3G and 4g?
So does that mean that the Pearls are going to be outdated soon? Or will there still be support and media, etc for them for a while?
I hope not, I just got the pearl in January, and I love it.... Although I did want the curve, it just wasn't available.....
Just the Technology that the OS uses. We are now using 2G (2nd Generation) tech, and is just moving over to 3G (3rd Generation) etc. It's just like moving from Windows XP to Windows Vista.
In a nutshell, there will always be support for the current Generation of phones. But, then again, how many of you keep a phone for over two years?
I am still on my 14 day trial (whatever you call it) with T-Mobile and I have the 8320 Curve. I know Monday the new Pearls come out with wifi and I think the new OS. I'm still debating if I want to keep the Curve or switch to the new Pearl. I am under a 1 year contract so it wouldn't really matter either way. Next year I would be upgrading to whatever new one comes out anyway. The only thing that keeps me from going with the Pearl is the keyboard. I type and text a lot and I know it's a pain to get used to.
