Without a SIM card in my 9700, the berry picks up the router name but the wifi symbol stays greyed out. Wont lock in WiFi without SIM..is this normal?

From my experience I'd say the answer is no. When I had first got my 9700 I was able to connect to multiple networks before I had put my SIM card in.

no your device should be able to pick up wifi as long as wifi is enabled. are you saying if you attempt without sim it stays greyed out and wont connect but if you put sim in it does?
