I personally like the new icons but I still think there is room for improvement. Specifically, I think they should get rid of the grey background.

I love the new icons and I actually like the background/frame. Even though having the background makes the icons very non wallpaper friendly, I still prefer it that way.

The icons are ok, they aren't anything special. Why we need the force field around them I have no clue but we are gonna have to live with them as RIM likely isn't doing any more last second change ups.

The "action bar" at the bottom offends me. It's ugly. Make it user customizable with normal icons AND hide it in the peek gesture making it accessible from any any app with a simple flick.

RIM changed the icon size about a month ago and made them a good deal smaller than in the previous software versions

Personally, I love the way the iPhone's icons look, with that 3D effect they employ. There's something to be said for simple, yet stylish. That being said, I can't wait for that BB QWERTY.

No, I don't really like the new icons. I don't think they are horrible, just not the greatest. I'm hoping they get a major upgrade soon. But hey, that's just me.

i don't believe this is the final version of the UI the icons are to plain to be all and far to grainy, liek a smaller image blown up

In all honesty, with all the time RIM had and Cascade and TAT I was hoping they could get rid of this icon interface altogether and surprise us with something completely new and better.

Not holding my breath though.

if they were to retain icons, please make them retractable like in PB so that I can show wallpaper in all its glory.

I honestly believe that the BB OS 7.1 Icons look SOOOOOO MUCH BETTER. Does anyone else agree? I love the way the OS 7 icons look they are very nice and detailed but thats just my two cents.

you can't just jump out of the icon grid interface, it'll scare people, you have to ease the market into it, the hub is step one. even sayign that though you'd still need icons at some point or another not everythign can be a gesture and you do need something to press when you want to play a game or something, can't be like the ancient DOS prompt where you type in things :P

I am not digging the background in new icons. They'd look better without the blackish shadow/background. More whitespace between icons, the better. And this background shadow eats a lot of what could have been white-space.

Without the icon background they would get lost in some of the wacky wallpapers people like to use, there's no pleasing everybody I guess.

They can get rid of the lower bar as long as they replace them with BUTTONS!
