    Hello awesome CrackBerry nation,

With the arrival of Onyx (no UMA) and Driftwood (with UMA), I am asking myself whether or not I need a UMA device. For this, I have several questions:

    1) Is UMA support hardware or software on the device? Could a non-UMA device become UMA-enabled after an OS upgrade (in the future). I know some Bold 9000 users cannot benefit from UMA but am not familiar with details

    2) I travel across Europe extensively, but some of my carriers do not support UMA. Actually, except Orange UK, I don't know of others at present. Do you think carriers are likely to introduce UMA in the near future (until next upgrade 12 months from Nov), i.e. is it better I get a UMA-enabled device so that "I am ready" if and when this happens?

Please feel free to add any comments and/or suggestions to this topic, my intention is to get to understand UMA and (hopefully) benefit from it.

    Thank you!
